Robert Altman Dies
By PopCultureWhore

Director Robert Altman (Prairie Home Companion, Gosford Park, PrĂȘt-a-Porter) has died at age 81 in Los Angeles. With the exception of Gosford Park perhaps, I was never really a fan of his films – too many wide shots, not enough action – (The Company, anyone?) but he definitely had an eye for crafting an interesting shot. He was nominated for seven Academy Awards but never won until he was awarded an honorary Oscar at this year’s ceremony. During the speech, he revealed that he’d had a heart transplant 10 years ago.

How long do you think it’s going to take before Lohan, one of the stars of Prairie Home Companion, comes out with some weepy statement about how she honed her “craft” with Altman?

UPDATE: And here it is!
